In A Fog...
Sunday is yet another day of the inversion, a period of overcast and moderate chill each and every day. I tried one short walk, then back to the furnace and pets. Feeling pretty good now, but usually get sleepy before I used to. And instead of bouncing out of bed, I drag. DRAG. But this is a period of relative calm, long weeks between medical stuff. I like it!!! And so there finally is time to think about the future. I still see the Dude in it, with some business challenge for us. I realize he has managed to complicate his life in anazing ways, some his and some not. But there is always time for a good idea.
Interesting time in life. My older cat seems to be losing fur. She seems OK otherwise, but I can see her skin. Her drumsticks are, well, exactly that. The younger one is about SAMO, which is just perfect. And I continue to respond to survey invitations with the promise (well, offer) of riches. Modest riches, but enough for a pizza at least. The place that sends me the most offers also is the most picky. Answer a couple of questions, get kicked out, and on to the next. Another place only lets me in every so often, so you hit it THAT time, or wait/wait/wait. And the ones that pay per survey are pretty few these days. Used to get paid per each.
I realize once again this winter that my best seasons do not include this one! I love to take long walks, but not bundled up. In fact today I noticed several male shorts, rather a surprise. There are some others who think alike. I also was pleased to see that the weight situation is about the same, the few holiday pounds in the past. Still puzzles me why the dr's scale is so much higher. I am constantly about 20 l bs more down there. And I do not think she believes me about the difference! Can tennies make such a gap????? Of course I believe my old faithful, but it is admittedly "old" faithful. Think I will definitely keep it!
Well, getting towards evening. Yes, sunset is a bit later now, but not a great deal. While I like dark evenings with a glowing candle, daylight is OK, too. Suggests warmth. I am looking forward to this week. The Dude suggested lunch tomorrow, and we have our computer trade show later. Fun events. And I am happy to say that taxes are done. OK, not a big stretch this time, but nice to get the money returned that I did not want taken a year ago anyway. And, surprise/surprise, blue sky and sun, albeit rather late to have an impact. And, as for the past 16 years, Nutmeg is "starved."

The colors of autumn are settling in. And I read a great blog just this morning about the change of seasons. My best bud really writes well, and I am often moved by the sentiment. Salute, Dude. In my own defense, I am still creating summer. Added a couple of new plants this week. Mums for fall color. They are so big and bold at the market, turn brown and seem to wilt, then are reborn. Sort of like our own lives. Personally I have been given a massive blow, what with illness and separation, but am coming back. I owe so much to my bud, who got me thru the operation and appointments, and who has continued to stand by me. He has a fuller life with more characters in the cast. Mine has become quiet and purposeful. Each day has an agenda, required or otherwise. I am getting used to going from stainless on a pinball table to full flower in the field. Quite a change! But we charge onward. I am beginning to learn anew. And beginning to explore anew. But not beginning to love anew. That much has not changed.

Good Friday morning. Warmer today, after a pre-Fall week. Nice to have doors open once again. With the darker mornings, I do not realize how late it gets. Good for Butterscotch, who always knows when it is time for her breakfast. She never takes a day off. Discovered loads of e mail on the machine, a gift from good bud Darrel. I enjoy surveys, and even sometimes earn dough like yesterday, so I do as many as possible. Today started off with 5. Of course a drawing is no guarantee, but it IS a shot. I have noticed that screening seems more careful lately, so I am often redirected after just a few test questions. Lessens the take a bit, but it still is no-lose. I even sent one to my best bud earlier. Speaking of him, the blog has returned. He writes very well and states the real deal, so I have missed it. He discusses getting drunk, which he claims will never happen again. Of course, liquor is also fattening, bad for health, etc., etc. So he can always climb back to my weight level, if he wishes! The issue this week was the decision to hire another new person. Once again a shock to the system. And so we get on with life, chapter XXXX whatever. I am looking forward to a few days off before facing the new realiities. Or the Dude could suggest our goldwinner biz. Still waiting for that one.

Where's The Beef??? I just ran into a man dressed in a full Scottish outfit and going to the games at the Old Pen. Said he was injured, so could not toss the log or stone or whatever. But he planned to visit the country on his honeymoon. Looked sharp. Reminded me of my own ancestors, many many many generations back. And I never tossed a log, either. Good chap! And, by the way, where was the publicity? Did not hear of this event. I stated the weather was perfect for the games, too. And so we enter another chapter. Paul was here last weekend and a great time was had by all. And so fall is arriving. Good day to relax, do chores, do planning, think, and whatever. The Dude commented he is back into running. Good for him. As for my own diet, I sadly gained a few pounds. Probably the good eating a week ago, even a very very very rich dessert. Paul declined it, then sampled, sampled, and sampled some more. Hmmmmm. Anyway, I have been unable to get these pages posted for some time. One more shot, and then it will be!

An Artist by any other Name...I spent the glorious weekend with my bud from Seattle, an old college chum. He arrived Friday and left Sunday PM. We spent most of Saturday in the park at the show, then the rest of the time repairing my blind. Glad he could help. The art was great, and we just strolled and strolled. Since he rents a car (Buick Regal), it was ever so easy. No scheduled times, etc. Prince of a guy. And the food at Chilis and at the Mall was outstanding. Do not usually eat so well or so much. Paul is pure pleasure to host, and we always have lots of laughs. After he left, I discovered a branch and a powerline tangled. Not a pleasure. Kept power, but had a major cleanup effort. And a repaint of the spot, just after the big project. Ah, fall. And today I return to samo samo, the continued house repair program. Added new plants, cut branches, whatever. The cats are only too happy to cheer me on. Nice to have a break, the annual goofoff, and now reality.

- Happy holiday, all. Lovely morning and not too hot. Weather seems to be settling into the 80's now, and it feels darn fine. While there was a bit of excitement last week concerning jobs, nothing has come of it. I requested The Dude to handle it, and I have had no feedback. He is usually awesome at sales, with his unusual approaches and friendly personality. So with things closed today and The Dude off eating canned tunafish, I am left to my own devices. Just returned from a safari to Winco for a few items, and now I am headed for the land of tiny projects and lots of them. With the mansion so nicely painted, I am trying to fix up the small things. About my speed these days, and mostly FREE. Otherwise, I plan to enjoy the fine porch and chat with the walkers. Usually a fun time for all. The big news this week is the 50th annual Art in the Park show and my usual visit with a dear friend from Seattle and school days. As he is a career consultant in his "spare" time (ha, ha), he may have some thoughts. I hope it is time to move from medical to manipulation. And in fact I am feeling really good, really spirited, and really up to whatever. Still a bit of sleepiness, but it may be due to hot evenings. Sllept especially well last night and am enjoying a nice quiet stretch. My best to The Dude and his feline diet.

The poopedy-poo continues. I am sneezed to retort the job is on the bird side now. However, I think the mast slide will be the toughest. And my painter conscripts all plants be moved back from the louse, so the ivy is misty. He has learned it encourages aunts. I do have some modest clamage. The weather has been good, and we enjoy our chats, so much it has slowed the progress. Today the assistant is putting in a full day, her first this week. She scrubs paint all day and does it very well.
Our one treat is a gourmet cookie each afternoon. We skip lunch, as Lee feels we spend too much time. He is, of course, billing for his hours. Guess I cannot lose either way, but I admit the upset gets old and one longs for a "new" house ASAP. We plan a few design touches, too, so it should look better than new. Right now, it looks under construction!
Otherwise it has been a quiet, mostly sunny week. I weigh daily and am making no progress at all. Have been stuck for many weeks. Probably the need to stick around means no exercise, so even modest meals (one a day) do little for the problem. I am still determined to reach the goal and not slip, but am resigned to a slower process than The Tiny Dude. His enthusiasm for goals is extraneous.
The future is no cleaner than ever. I have been so absorbed in the house project plus the continuing medical situation that a job has not been a priority. Do I miss work? In a way, yes. Of course nice days "off" are just great. But we need a longer run answer. If it be working from home, great too. If not, someday I will have to dress up again and plunge in. Just not sure, and it seems a great time to "lead" the remodel.
